5 (very large) seeds for: Coralbush, Coral Plant, Physic Nute, Guatemala Rhubarb (Jatropha multifida), plus germination and care information. Coralbush is a small tree or shrub with a palm-like look. It has showy coral-type flowers and big bright yellow nuts and is grown for its distinctive leaves and flashy red flowers. Very fast growing, ever-blooming, nice landscape and specimen plant.
I really love this unusual and easy to grow plant! These make excellent container plants in any zone, although it can be planted in the landscape in tropical zones 10 (possibly 9b) and warmer where they can grow into small trees, but they take trimming well; easily kept down to bush size with annual trimming.
They like heat and sun - not much water and well draining soil. In cooler zones, they can be grown in containers and set out by the pool or on the patio during the summer months and bring into a bright, warm area of the house during the winter. About the only thing you can do wrong with this plant is overwater it - I suggest using a cactus soil mix in a well draining container (terra cotta is perfect for this plant!)
They really enjoy the heat and the sun and with that they produce the most striking red flowers all summer long! The butterflies LOVE this plant's flowers and you will, too!!
